I just put the diamond eye quiet turbo back on my 08 dmax and love it. It is very quiet and you will notice right off the mpg gain. I used hp tuners to delete the dpf and am still working on the tune. Just got back from a 200 mile road trip and got 21 mpg. Not sure about the hand held programmers but i havnt heard anyone say anything bad about the edge or ppe.
