exhaust for diesel?
#1
what is the best muffler for the buck? how does the MBRP exhaust compare to others? this is for my dad's 2005 1 ton dually diesel. he doesn't want anything loud at all but would like some performance gain. how much horsepower would he gain w/ aftermarket exhaust?

A full system usually nets about 15 hp and upwards of 70lb/ft of torque.. The MBRPs are the best IMHO. They have a nice rumble, but have a little drone when towing at about 1500-1700 rpms..

I have the MBRP on my truck and I love it... the only thing I wish I would have done is get the front pipe.... its not expensive... I'm just too damned lazy to order the damned thing.
without the front pipe the only difference that I can tell in exhaust tone is at startup and at idle... other than that none at all

I have heard tons of good things on MBRP. I can speak for Magnaflow. I am very satisfied with the sound and quality of my Magnaflow turbo back kit. Not loud at all. Gives a slight rumble at idle and a mild deep tone at other rpms. Not much interior noise. I don't think you can go wrong with either system.

If you want really quiet then TTS makes the quitest 4" non restrictive exhaust system. Still a little louder than stock but not as loud as mbrp. I like the mbrp systems too but they didnt have 5" when I ordered mine.
