to live with daily the Gm hands down... The dodge is probably the better truck truck when it comes to abuse, but the interior is cheap and they are not as comfie...

That being said my friend race rams... a 2500 D crew will take a beating like a pro.... we have done stuff that would have broken a Gm for sure, but that more about suspens / frame and axles that motor talk..

If it was my money to drive daily id go for the GM... To build for power or racing the dodge.. Then again we where stopped for speeding in a mega cab dually with 34K lbs behind it... No problems at all hammering it across the usa...

i dont know why everyone says cummins are best for racing and making power. anymore, a dmax is just as fast. cummins have been around for 20 years, the dmax only 7. cummins should be way faster than dmax's because there are so many aftermarket engine components like pistons, rods, cranks, cams, etc. all you can really do to a dmax is turbo and injector work and there still as fast or faster. seems like alot of the sled pullin titles are goin to the dmax too.(now thats a test of the whole truck) In my opinion, the dmax is THE new diesel to have

The faster arguement for cummins is NO LONGER a good arguement. Duramax has the aftermarket support just look at what the motor has done in racing lately. Show me a cummins that can run low 10s@130mph and still tow what it was rated for from the factory, and all the creature comforts it rolled off the assembly line with. I get 18ish running 75 down the highway with the mods in my sig with 35" tires, if I went back to stock tires Id pick up atleast 2mpg and thats running a small tow tune(90hp). The hotter tunes(300hp) net better mileage but I dont have the trans to run one of those. The newer dodges transmissions are much better then the old ones, the 5.9 cummins is a god motor, the 6.7 is not. People have actually had to sue DC to take back their trucks due to so many problems. The flame thrower issue on the fords has been resolved but the vast majority still get horrid mileage. But then again so do the LMM dmaxs compared to the LBZs and even the LB7s. I get 14.5-15 running 70-75 pulling a 16' lowboy with a jeep on it(~6K) I dont thing thats bad at all. For comfort over the road GM hands down, I would try and find an 06-07 LBZ equipped truck. It also depends on your price range and what cab and drivetrain configuration you want. A ccsb 4wd will net you the best resale value and also you will be glad to have it. I can let you know how pulling our 20' enclosed trailer with our camaro goes mileage wise.

Well, I love my 06 Dmax CCSB. Get 20 mpg empty at 70 mph. Sure wish I could get 15-16 towing though.

Even with fuel at $5 it is better than the gas rig at $4 with just 11 mpg. Power to spare and the Allison is dead strong.

Easy to upgrade, lots of parts and support.

Now I would say the 5.9 is easier to work on from a mechanics view (shade tree and for $$)

I would buy another in a second, pre 07 though.

LMM=LBZ with alot of mileage killing emissions crap

If you go nnbs you will get the LMM, you can still ditch all the emissions crap and tune it and you will be good to go. Im kinda wishing I would have waited and got me a nnbs I really love the interior on them and the emissions stuff isnt a big deal for since it would be gone the day I got it.

cummins are great power monsters but the dura is the best street diesel

i had an 03 duramax in my 4500 dump truck and it would get 15-18 towing 14000 pounds behind on a trailer
it would do 85 with 18000 in the bed and 14000 pounds on a 4000 pound trailer and still got 14mpgs

All of the pipe/service trucks in my uncles company are dodge, and its uncommon for him to have to take them to the dealer for a repair, and he keeps them until they have about 250k on them....i would rather have a more uncomfortable, less appealing truck, with less power, than deal with another gm dealership, or gm.

as a side note i had no modifications done to my truck until it had 50,000 miles on it, and was completely out of the extended service plan.

Get the Dmax, if for no other reason than the Allison trans. If you might be offroad any, the Dodge has a solid front end, but if its all highway, the IFS will ride better. I would still get the GM(even with the IFS) you can do a solid axel swap.

Well, the DM/AL have a 200K warranty on the fuel system and now 100K on the rest. I have been treated nothing but great the one time I went in (only a door catch)

I suggest another dealer????????????
