Default 97 k3500 4x4 cclb engine swap

Ok here's my question how would I go about keeping the Guages working with a 5.3 lsx swap. Already getting the black box to 0411 swap started.

Basic info 1997 k3500 vortec 5.7 (trashed) 4l80e and 246hd transfer case. Going to drop a boneyard 5.3 in it ($350) for a core motor.

Well keeping the gauges working is cake on a 97 it's all mechanical still no fancy anything for gauges.
run 98 f-body 3 wire coolant temp sensor to keep temp gauge. direct connection from sensor to gauge cluster
run 1 wire 99-02 oil pressure sending unit. direct connection from sensor to gauge cluster.
LS pcm will control the tach and speedo hardwired outputs from the pcm.

LS pcm flashed for a 3/4 will control the existing 4L80 just need the crank spacer between the flywheel and your existing trans will work just fine

gas gauge will stay operational as is the 97 is the last year it's a hardwire from the fuel sender in the tank directly to the gauge cluster. 98 up use pcm controlled fuel level gauge but the LS pcm can run it but that doesn't apply to your truck.

If you wire the HVAC system pressure switches into the pcm just like a 00-02 truck the LS swap computer will control the HVAC just like factory.

Some wiring required to interface the newer harness to the older harness but everything will work correctly as long as you wire it all up correctly cruise abs hvac can all work normally if done correctly. ABS needs a rear wheel speed sensor input from the LS pcm and that's it to keep abs operational.

Do you plan on towing? A 5.3 will struggle more at that then your 350 did.

You're going to want a lq4 or lq9 for that truck. The 5.3 is not going to be a good choice if you choose to tow anything with that truck.

Eh, the 5.3 has more grunt than the 5.7 but it's not the ideal choice.

If it has decent gears like 4.10's already it will help him some at least. If the motor is cheap and you can't find a good deal on a 6.0, then I'd still use the 5.3.

Default 5.3

I bought my 5.3 for 350 so it was cheap enough

So I've looked everywhere and can't find the wires from pcm to speedo
