Reviving an OLD thread. Anyone still modding the 8.1s? I only tow, so is there any real gains to be made at low RPM? Extra grunt would be nice, fuel MPG increases would also be appreciated.

My new ride is an '03 2500HD Allison 3.73, with CA emissions. Four cats, four O2 sensors, but no AIR pump. Only mod is a Flowmaster 50 Series muffler. Dual 3" inlet, single 3.5' outlet.

Currently does a nice job towing my 9,000 race car trailer (6" extra height).

A friend of a friend got one from raylar and noticed the difference.

I modded one for a friend but it had to be sent out for welding since I don't have one. Still waiting for him to get it back and install it.

I put a little screenon the PCV valve fitting for a baffle.

Thoughts? Opinions? Criticism?

Not sure if you're still following this or not. I'm just mechanically inclined enough to think I can pull this off but not mechanically inclined enough to know the answer to this: Why did you decide to redo the PCV system? Does the modification somehow defeat the factory PCV or is it a necessary improvement. Can I get away with leaving the system as is? Thanks,
