Default Tune on a 2011 5.3

Is it worth getting a tune on a stock 5.3. Not planning on modding to heavy for a while and was wondering if there were any advantages to getting one while in stock form. I'm new to trucks so go easy on me.

You should notice a pretty good difference with a good tune. But be warned, once the modding bug bites, you'll be addicted.

How do you like that 5.3 with the 6 speed?

Yes! The factory trans tune sucks and the throttle response is way too slow. Plus torque management and AFM have to be my least favorite ideas ever.

I like it a lot but I've only ever owned hondas so any v8 would've been nice lol. I know about the modding bug since all of my cars were. I can tell that the truck is sluggish when launching. My next question would be who to tune it? It's my DD so I cant have it sit up. Is there anyone close to or in Louisiana that is good?

Don't mean to hijack but I've also got a 2010 Tahoe with a 5.3 and the 6 speed auto. The 5.3 runs good and I like, the 6 speed in my opinion is terrible. The damn thing is constantly shifting back and forth back and forth with the slightest movement of my right foot. I can't figure out what was wrong with 4 speed auto's with lockup converters.

Mine used to do that too. Swapping the 3.08s for 3.73s helped alot because it stays in the powerband in 6th gear now.

Someone posted a good HP Tuner tune for a 2011 5.3. Can't seem to find it right now. If I find the link I'll post it. But definitely GM left a lot on the table for the 5.3 A6.
