Default S10 BCM control with Tech2

Can a BCM from say a 1999 S10 be reprogrammed or flashed with different options or is it a one shot deal. New, flash it, done? How about can options be changed in the BCM with a Tech2? Im looking to do a power window and lock swap in my 99 and I would like keyless entry as well.

Not sure if the Silverado and S10 have the same communication protocol between the PCM and BCM, but I had my BCM programmed (2000 Silverado) to update the locks and fog lights. Guy used a snap on scanner device through the OBII port. I would think a Tech II could do the same thing.

A Tech 2 does not Program on its own. Nor does a snap on scanner. Snap on does have a rebranded Passthrough programing system though.

A Tech 2 can pass the program through but you need access to TIS2WEB service to flash.

Now that you mention that, I think he had to connect to the internet to push the update. It was a few years ago.

He was likely using a Passthrough Pro from Snap On. It used to be a rebranded Drewtech Now they changed again.

Yeah I know it is a pass through. I have access to a few of the old TIS2000 DVDs. I was mostly curious if it was possible as I have read that once the BCMs are programmed they cannot be programmed again.

I don't see why you can't do it on these older ones. I know the newer ones are like that.
