Mike. Look up injector pulse dampeners. Crazy enough as it is I have seen it also, not on my truck but on another. Short story of it is that pulses in the fuel from the timing of the injector opening and closing causes a misfire of the injector and a lean condition. In both examples just changing the length of the fuel line eliminated the issue or made it much better. Theoretically that's a band aide as that's what pulse dampeners are for. Many oem rails have them

I guess if he said what you just said, and then said "based on having seen rail mounted dampers, I decided to try and making a pseudo damper by lengthening the fuel line", I would have understood.
But the way Vortec said it sounded like for some reason he lengthened the fuel line, the symptom went away, and after five beers he came up with a theory.

To be honest it was a bit if a eureka moment. I never would have thought that on my own. Ever. Luckily Pat ran into the same issue only weeks later and at that point it was easy to diagnose.
Call me crazy, but what he typed doesn't sound much different than "resonance in my new fuel system from injector pulses" and "the pulse from the injectors was such that it literally caused the motor to break up as though it had a 2 step" knowing that the problem is as described in the first post.
