Default E-fan issues

Having a hard time getting the e fans to come on in my 03 tahoe. Ordered a Nelson Barnes hooked it up and grounded each of the pins and they came on. Copy somebody else settings for the fans but they sons turn on. I have the 3.4 update for hp tuners and some of the files or images I saw in the screen section it doesn't ask for typ of hardware fitted. E.g. Passive, serial, serial cycling, analog, analog cycling or not fitted which do I choose? Any help appreciated! Btw I'm brand new to hp tuners software

Download a 05 or 06 4.8L or 5.3L truck file from their tune repository and set your fan tables like they are in one of those calibrations.

Can you command them on? There is a section in HP where you can turn them on manually to test function, same with your fuel pump.

OP do they not come on at all or do them come on for a few seconds then die? Mine would come on then shutdown after about 5 seconds worth of run time. The green wire had pushed out of the pcm causing this. Can you command them on manually via HPTuners?

There is in the scanner but if the pins aren't activated it won't work
