4L60 TCC lockup question
I have a 3000 rpm converter behind a supercharged 5.3, and it town the truck will flash to 3700 rpm, which is annoying for me. What I got used to doing is pulling the gear selector to 3rd, that way the trans will not try to go to 4th gear and it will lock the TCC which is exactly what I want under light throttle and under 50 mph.
Moving the shifter is aggravating, so in my tune I've moved 4th gear out to 55mph and have enabled the TCC to lock in 3rd gear above 35mph under light throttle, which is perfect.
The question I have is am I going to damage the trans if I keep the TCC locked in 3rd gear and then allow a 3>4 upshift with the TCC locked? I'm not hammering on it, only accelerating to get on the interstate, etc when going above 55 mph. What are your thoughts?
