2500 Suburban Lifted Monster Tune Help
Last October I bought a 2500 Suburban with the intention of doing a lift and a diesel swap just to have a bad @ss kid and toy hauler . But after doing some research apparently the LY6 / 6L90e that it came with is capable of pushing some really aggressive numbers. After doing the math it looks like I could achieve the torque and HP numbers I’m looking for (about 600) just by doing a cam swap, throwing an edelbrock e-force super charger and a tune on it. This would save me quite a bit of money sense I would have to have the diesel swap done for me (I don’t know much about diesels but I’m comfortable working on gas) costing around $30K from Duraburb in Florida. As I am married I will need to do this in stages....
I have already done the lift 7.5" BDS with 35" Toyo MT's and purchased an HP Tuner. So far I have read 2 books and countless forums on using the HP Tuner and still feel like I could use some guidance. Maybe someone here would let me compare my .hpt file with an .hpt file that you guys feel has worked for you. I know I’m not setting my tune up correctly as my last tune resulted in a bad torque converter shudder while pulling a trailer and a mild shudder with no trailer... As soon as I changed the tune back to stock the shudder went away. Well it mostly went away, I ended up replacing the torque converter because even the very slight shudder that remained was driving me nuts, it’s under warranty anyway why not. I’m thinking my tune is what damaged it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
