Default 00 Silverado power locks going crazy

First, sorry if this has been covered before or it's not in the right place. I've tried searching online and haven't really found anything specific to my issue. Anyway, in the past couple of weeks I've noticed that my door chime is going off when I open the door with no key in the ignition (didn't really bother me). Then I had a couple times when I opened my door and the factory alarm/horn went off. Last night I noticed that I lock it with my key fob but then it will unlock itself (was walking the dog and noticed the dome light was on). If I then open the door, without using the fob to unlock, the horn will go off. So basically I'm arming it with the key fob but then it will unlock itself and if I open the door without the fob the horn will go off. I could work around the locking horn thing but since it keeps unlocking and locking by itself, cutting on the dome light, I don't want it to kill my battery so I disconnected it. The somewhat similar issues I found online seemed to point to the BCM but then I also read where that rarely went bad. I've also read that a low battery could cause issues with the locks but I believe the battery is only 2 years old. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Jamie

It sounds like the ignition lock cylinder is worn out & sticking.

I replaced that last year since I could start the truck without the key in the cylinder.

FWIW, The average life span is only 2 years on an automotive battery.

If the electrical part of the Ignition switch is bad, It would think the key is still in the ignition and not allow it to lock. You should really have the circuits checked related to the key less entry.

I've had the battery disconnected for the last couple of days. I hooked it up yesterday and the locks seems to be working right. I'll see how it does over the next couple of days.
