Default would you trust this hood pin?

first of all, I have a glass hood on my s10...looking for any way to lose a little weight of the nose, I came across a company called quik latch. they have actual hood pins that are much larger than this, but they want $350 for them. yea fukin right!

here is the smaller version of the same thing that you can get for around $50-$60. would you guys trust these to hold down a glass hood? i have hinges on the back side of the hood that will stay. this way i can lose the hood latch along with all of its mounting hardware, cable etc. i get tired of having to get in my truck to pop the hood (drivers door is against a tight wall when in my garage)

i know it will hold the weight...it's the surface area that they have to hold onto that has me questioning it.

Those are pretty slick. Not sure if I would spend that much though. I'm surprised there isn't something similar out there.

Why not put a piece of plate between the nut and the body of the latch? I doubt you'd need thick plate, you just want more surface area.

Also, twist locks look like this

the only thing i see wrong with this style is the weight of the hood would keep relatching it, i feel like over time the spring in those latches could get weak.

idk though. just thinking out loud here.

I put those on Spoolin's truck. Need to be aligned real well and plenty of grease up in the pocket where the stud goes into but they are definitely quality.

The small ones, or ghe big ones?

As for the springs, kcan keep the stock hood spring to keep pressure on it.

I thought about that too. Not sure where i can get an aluminum washer that large. I would also want it anodized to match.
