Default GMT 800 Silverado vs. Sierra (03'ish - 07)

I am in the market pretty hard for a new daily driver / winter beater.
I really love that classic body silverado, however in my area its proving to be super hard to find a great condition low mileage one, however there's about 5:1 sierra's
Is there any difference between the two other then grille/headlights etc etc?
I could've sworn that the silverado in that body style has a steering rack, where the sierra is still the old gear box and link steering?

It would depend on if you got a 2wd or 4wd. Pretty much all 2wd's will have a steering rack unless it's like a vortec max, vho truck. I have only ever seen the 4WD trucks with a pitman and idler arm setup like they have always had.

Otherwise like you said it's just body panels, grille, headlights and interior that is different. The frames, motors/trans, rear end etc etc are all the exact same.

so the 2wd's have the rack and the 4x4's have the linkage? well thatd make sense cause I was under my friends 05 2wd silverado...had a rack then a 06 sierra 4x4 and that was linkage...and thats why I started thinking there was a difference...but it was a 4x4 vs 4x2 instead of sierra vs silverado

Yup you got it, 2wd is normally steering rack and 4wd is linkage (idler/pitman arms).

Out of curiosity. ..
What do that body style with no rust and low mileage typically go for around your area?
For me, a 4x4 ECSB with no rust and about 60Kmi silverado it ranges from 10k-17k
Sierra same condition is about 8.5k-15k
Of course there's the odd one that asks like 20k and its still available 2 months later haha

About the same for prices being that I live in the "rust belt". It's kinda hard to find a low miles truck around here but I'd call low miles anything around 100k and it can go for 7-15k depending on model and year. Somebody with a truck that has less than 80k miles would ask on the high side.

in general yes a 2wd has a rack with coil springs and a 4x4 uses a box with a drag link

But there is an exception to that rule.

I guess you guys aren't aware of the B2E = Spring Special Sales Package???

It's basically a 2WD truck on a torsion bar 4x4 frame chassis with 20 inch wheels. Available on both Chevy and GMC lineup. The Spring Special trucks started in 04

The problem is no one knows what they are.
