Not in winter! My last job had me traveling all over for work (rodeo) and we had to be in Katy the first of the year and the cold goes RIGHT through you; it's not like other cold places I've been, maybe it's the humidity that drives it straight to the bone. All I know is every time I've been to Katy in the winter it's f'n miserable, I'm in a shack fighting for space around a little propane heater. OTOH I have been to Houston/Galveston in the spring & summer, VERY beautiful; Galveston is one of my favorite places to get away to but you won't find me there in the winter! And the area between Houston and Austin is just to die for in the spring.
I vote Austin, no humidity like Houston, and just nicer all around then the DFW area. I grew up in Houston, and my ex lived in Dallas so Im pretty familiar with all three and IMO Austin is just a better place all around, thats why Im here
