TOTQ Winner 3rd Qtr. 2013 - rkwhite61
Congratulations to rkwhite61
First and foremost, thanks to all of those who voted my truck. It is truly an honor being recognized by a group of like individuals who enjoy this hobby. There are some great trucks on this site, as well as in this quarter’s competition. Again, I’m honored and thanks.
Now on to the truck. I bought this truck from my cousin back in Dec 2010 for $400. He just wanted it out of his yard. Charged the battery and drove the truck to my dad’s shop in The Woodlands and started tear down the first day. Being three hours away from my house, I worked on it when I could. At first, I had only planned to swap out the v6 to a V8, but it snow balled from there. Doesn’t it always happen this way?
The truck has totally gone through a complete frame off rebuild/transformation. Everything has been replaced or rebuilt - from engine, to driveline, to interior and even the blend doors, heater core and ac core in the heater box assembly. The only thing untouched at this point is the steering rack assembly. Every nook and cranny has been cleaned and almost every bolt has been either scrubbed clean and/or repainted. It’s pretty much a new truck at this point and should last me for a while. Guess this makes the truck built, not bought.
Future mods will include some type of FI and leather interior.
Before and After
The day I bought it
Tear down begins
Frame and suspension build
Installed engine out of wrecked Z06 Corvette
The day we put the cab back on the truck
When I brought it home from The Woodlands to Georgetown for final assembly
Bolting it all together
Interior tear down
Found some center cap decals on ebay to replace the corroded center area of the SS center caps
