Default Colorado ss awd not IF but How

I am planning and starting my Colorado ss project, first let me say, I'm a gm mechanic, and have my own family run fab and design shop, modification and parts are not a concern in this build. But I do how ever lack the ability to get my hands on a trailblazer ss to set the pattern for the build, just off gm service info I'm aware that the Colorado 4x4s run completely different front suspensions,

Things that I will be using in this build, I have already found a company who converts tremec t56 six speeds to 4wd all wheel drive tail outputs, I will be using a ls1 bored and stroked out to a 383, unknow ls? Heads and will be twin turboing it

Now things I need to know , does anyone have any photos of actual ss front suspensions(aka control arms front differntal) is the ss front suspenion the same as the normal trailblazer, can the nv149 out of the silverado ss be used in the trailblazers, our the Colorado and the trailblazer frames the same,

I will be posting other questions when they arise

FYI guys that have converted their 1500 trucks from 4wd to AWD have gotten away with unplugging the front diff actuator when it is engaged. IDK if this would work on a coly. But either way good luck!

Well my only down side to that is that the Colorados have a two speed transfer case with no Differential in it so you would have 4wd wheel skip in turns along with drive shaft wrap

What pewter meant is the guys that have swapped to the 149 tcase for awd have unplugged the actuator in the front diff so it just stay engaged all of the time. You'll need to swap the an awd tcase to make it work.

Sounds like an awesome project, definitely in to see it finished!

I believe the main issue you would have trying to use the “149” is that it was designed to be installed with a driver’s side front propeller shaft and differential, whereas from my understanding, the Colorado/Canyon would have everything on the passenger side. Of course you can’t just flip the transfer-case, as it has an internal oil-pump and pick-up tube that would starve if the unit was flipped. At the very least, if it is able to be done at all, the internals would have to be modified for its new location.

Well today at work I had a chance to put a colorado and a. Trailblazer both on the rack and had a chance to put them side by and get a good look at what I'm working with, that being said I plan on Utilizing a trailblazer frame and modifying the body mounts to work better with the colorado

Photos posted later

The Colorado and trailblazer frames are both different in the front, due to this split in the frame center section

Default Colly SS

unless your a great mechanic don't even start this job. the Colly's are
a pain to make mods on. nothing in the GM line up will interchange parts
with it. especially the electrical stuff. the truck was Chevy's red headed
stepchild. as in after thought.
