Only 'scoop' I've heard was possibility of 2007 being the last year for the TB SS.

Of course, sales numbers might change that

Highly unlikely. There is a sponsor on trailvoy.com; Chris White at Vector Motorsports who has an inside connection to GM and was actually part of the R&D process for the TB SS. Apparently GM tried with little sucess. Here is a related thread. I also believe he has one of the first TB SS' produced. He has a wealth of knowledge on the TB SS and was the first tuner to tune the TB SS.

I was also hoping GM would have added the 6-speed auto to the TB SS for 07. But when I read they were not, I went ahead and bought an 06 with no regrets.

Double overdrive in one of these heavy pigs? It'dbe nice but I doubt it will happen. You would need some pretty good power mods to utilize 6th gear at below 90 mph

Mileage, my friend, mileage. Part of the reason the Vette gets better mileage than the TBSS does (other than the obvious aerodynamics and weight issues) is RPM. Running 2500 RPM at 75 MPH means mileage seriously sucks.

Also, with the 6L80E's first gear (4.03), you could put 3.42's or even 3.23's in the back of a TBSS and have more off-the-line torque (higher final drive ratio) than the 4L70E (3.06) with the 4.10's, with great cruising RPM to boot.
