I have a 2000 silverado, 243k miles on it, but still runs strong, only think is, it has the pistion slap at cold starts.. thats it. I'm looking for a nice throaty cam that will sound good and be good all the way around for towing and offroad.

Truck is leveling on 33's and is mostly a trail truck. It's already tuned as of right now for 87, i know 93 will be better overall, which i will be switching over when i do a cam.

I know i'll be doing pushrods and ls7 lifters, but is there anything else i should do?

Also, it has 862 heads on it, i have a set of 241's in the garage, that i was gonna swap in when i do the lifters.

Love the sound of the ms3 cam..

Leave the 862s so you can maintain as much low end as possible. Wouldn't even hurt to have the milled slightly to bump the compression up closer to 10:1 with the right head gasket. As for the cam itself, again, you're going to want to maintain a good amount of low end so a smaller cam will be better off than something bigger. The Isky triple 12 I have in my truck even lost just a touch of low end compared to stock.

Its a good cam but, from what I've seen around here, it will want a converter in the 3000-3400 range. And Im not sure how well it makes power and torque down low. Hopefully a few others will chime in.

Keep the current heads. You will want a cam on the smaller side to keep as much low end as possible. The typical 212/218 or HT1 or other smallish options would be a good idea. The trickflow 216/220 would be the biggest I would suggest with the lowest price new cam I know of.

Your 862 heads would be good for that size cam,a 2:16/2:20,or a 2:18/2:20 comp cam with those lifters you wanna throw in,

On the 241 heads It would just be another play area you would have to trick up the timing to what you want,but they'd put pushing for a bigger converter for better results....

i heard that you could use a tbss convertor, heard it's a little "looser" and could work with a tr220, what im looking for is a good sounding "cam" and good performance, i know there is a bunch of cam threads, just trying to see what everyone thinks.

The trailblazer is a little looser about 3-400 rpm more than stock. It does help, but the 220 is a little much. The trick flow 216/220 with a trailblazer stall would be pretty perfect. A true 220/220 would be much better with a 3000 stall.
