Default 2001 4l80e early or late?

I just purchased a 4l80e out of a 2001 2500 Silverado for $600, it had 66,000 miles on it. I'm looking to rebuild for my turbo truck. I know it's considered late model because the case has one cooler fitting behind the bell housing and the other is located by the back of the transmission. My question is, do I have a late or early 4l80e? I've been reading that early 97-01 and late is 01&up. The tag on the passenger side of the transmission says 01-1-93. I believe this means built in 2001 on the 93 day of the year. So is there a specific date they switched from early to late? Anyway to tell with out opening it up and looking for KEY differences between the early and late?

Thanks, Jay

If you're rebuilding it, it really doesn't matter. The rebuild kit you buy should have all the latest version of parts for the rebuild.... Shazam! New late model transmission!

It only matters if you need specific internal hard parts or electronics.

The internal harness is different for 04-up

You basic rebuild/overhaul kits are 91-95, 96 only, and 97-up.

Internal Wire Harness is 91-93, 94-03, and 04-up. same with solenoids.
