Have been towing for Aaaaa long time... al replies are correct to your application.. 56ers saved yo drive line in moderate/steep grade pulling and taking off. They lowered your RPM torque range. You need to look at upgrading your breaking >>> just popped on some 305's and going to 56ers next week.

I've towed with my 4.3L TBI truck, your 4.8L will do just fine it seems like. Especially with those gears. I've got 3.42s and 235s.
