I will post up a picture later. My father-in-law brought me one of his old Matco toolboxes that is a big ****. It is about 52" long, 40" tall including the wheels, and 30" deep. I was thinking about restoring it because it has some dents and scratched up pretty good. Has anyone done this or am I crazy? I just like to have nice things, but no way I could afford this new. How would you go about doing it?

What do u have to lose if ur getting it for free then fix it up and pai t they way u like think of it as a clean canvas to do what u like with. Aside from cosmetically the ball bearings could probably use some grease and put some new drawer liners and make that thing havE a second life.

I repainted my brand new craftsman ones. I wanted all black but the black ones were twice as much as the red ones. So i painted them with my spray gun

Cover it up with stickers! Nothing wrong with wanting to restore it and having a nice box. If you have the facilities to do it yourself, the best method would likely be to remove all the drawers and hardware, blast, paint and reassemble.

If it was a husky,kobalt or Crapsman I woulkd say NO, But a Matco,Snap On, Mac, Or Cornwell would be well worth your time/money..I love my Box and had an autobody shop paint it (Snap On red) and ordered all new aluminum droor guards/pulls from snap on..Looks brand new, and you can literally stand on the droor! I used to have a Matco box, and it was nice! Matco may carry replacement parts for it...Only problem is you are going to have to fill it up with equally as nice tools..
