I"m very into guns and support guns, NRA member, I try everything I can to educate people on FIREARMS and firearm safety, rights, how antis always want to take guns away etc.

I feel WEAPONS is a negative word and FIREARMS would be a better sounding name for the section of the forum
weapons is a negative word and makes gun owners look like criminals

That section is intended for talk of all sorts not just firearms. I agree the term "weapons" sounds a bit rough but I dont know of a better way to describe it to encompass all aspects of that section's intent.

it is broad spectrum, and really shouldn't be read into too far...no one is talking about attacking others, or slaves...think it is fine

I think weapons is perfect.

Firearm:n.; A weapon, especially a pistol or rifle, capable of firing a projectile and using an explosive charge as a propellant.

That leaves our lovely knife threads out right? eh, believe it or not, I am all for being politically correct, a lot of times. I am really. But I don't think weapon is too harsh. Anything can be turned into a weapon, offense OR DEFENSE. Technically, a vehicle can be a weapon.
