Why do I use "Denali" to describe my truck?
Localish to me a guy has one for sale..... it's an 05 GMC with only around 25000 original miles on it. He has it advertised as a 2wd Denali lol. When I talked to him he sorta knows what it is but why he calls it a Denali I will never know..... I guess because it's a loaded SLT lol. I mean you can even seen the Vortec HO door badges in the pics and all. I thought about buying it but he wants too much and really I would rather a 06-07 Vmax to get a 4X4.
Whenever I search for parts (recently wheels and tires) on corporate websites or in person e.g., Pepboys, Tire Rack, etc., I must use "Denali" or "SS" to obtain proper part's search results for my truck. If I just use 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 I will not receive any search results for tires of the size (P275/55/20) and engine size (V8 6.0L) currently on my truck. During the majority of my visits to a auto shop or garage I must remember to tell the clerk to search for a "Denali" or "SS" I get the correct parts for my truck. However, there are occasions where the clerk is a mechanic or walking auto encyclopedia wizard then I learn a lot. Heck, I am always learning. Recently I learned that I have "Faux" leather. In the process of getting quotes to repair my headliner, I was shocked to learn that the gentleman from "Simple Truth Everything Automotive" informed me that my seats aren't leather. I checked my records and I was duped because the interior seating is "Front Leather Seating Surfaces". I stumbled upon my truck at the former Koon's GMC Dealership in June 2005: in my humble opinion I got a great bargain for my purchase. Thanks I hope to learn more about my truck and vehicles in general. Thank You

I have seen and confirmed a few silverados be sides mine in my area. But no GMC's
I have only seen like 2 trucks in my area that had the VHO emblems on them.
If you read up on the story of how they came to be, The main Dealer that put in the request for these trucks was in Texas. So if they are true VHO's it would be no surprise. However the emblems can still be purchased separately through the parts dept.

Yeah I caught the sarcasm right away because being a Houstonian I see that junk on the roads all the time.
This one is my favorite, though; I'm 100% sure the guy isn't trying to fool anybody, just happened to be the tailgate he found at the junkyard. Someone scored an Intimidator wing but left the cladding strip behind.

He probably calls it a Denali because it has the lq9. The VHO trucks not very well known at all and are odd ***** in terms of what they are. I have a 05 Silverado VHO and when I try to explain the lq9, how a lq9 is not the same as the 6.0 in the HD trucks, the 2wd on torsion bars, and 14 bolt rear end almost nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about. I got to point that I usually just tell people mine is a 2wd SS without the body kit. That way people usually nod their head like OK but I still know they have no clue what I'm talking about. It save me the time of trying to explain it to the average person who is oblivious to what is what.
They are a cool truck and all and both were the rarer (I guess) GMC version when I was looking 4 years ago at them. The 25000 mile one I mentioned did sell eventually for like $15000 as I talked to the guy again after it sold..... more just to see if it ever did sell.
If VHO owners think they have buying parts bad...... well my 1500HD is no different. I just buy parts for a 2500 or 2500HD...... otherwise I get a plethora of half ton junk I don't need lol. What you need to understand is the fact most partshouse parts systems don't have proper breakdowns and never will... it's life.
And unlike the original post says the B4V option lived on in 2006 and 2007. I know I got into this with 1Fastbrick I think regarding the usage of the 4L70E. I was posting about NHT equipped trucks and showing they ran the 70E versus the Sierra Denali, SS or B4V equipped ones using the 65E mostly based on the fact the NHT had a 10000 lb tow rating and higher GVWR. Now what would be neat is how many B4V optioned rigs did they build in 2006 and 2007?

I know this is an old thread, but recently picked up a 2005 VHO. Yeah, its kinda annoying looking for parts. Every parts store guy here has tried to tell me it doesn't have torsion bars or it can’t have a 6.0... I gave up going to local parts stores for stuff.
