Re-gearing an 03 SS?
I just picked up a 03 SS with 97k on it and its in mint condition. I love the truck but I would like to see better mileage if at all possible. I do a lot of hwy driving and at 13-14mpg its not a cheap driver. I know that the SS comes with 4.10 gears, has anyone re-geared for hwy mileage?
I also just picked up a maggie 112 kit for the truck. I know, I know not really a mpg improver but I was thinking with the right gears and the blower I could have the best of both worlds. Any input would help.

Start by cleaning the MAF and Air Filter. See if that helps anything.. Dunno if you knew that if you over oil the K&N, the MAF elements will catch the oil and skew the air readings. it can kill your mileage.

It's AWD, you should have never bought it expecting more than 13 or 14 on the highway. You might squeeze 15 out of it with premium and a tune that's dead nuts on. If it's a tune from TJ, I doubt you'll gain anything by messing with it, he knows his ****.
Mark my words, you go to 3.42s and the R's drop to 2000@70mph, your mileage will go to **** AND you'll end up cooking the 3-4 clutches in short order, because it'll be in-out-in-out-in-out of OD every time you hit a gust of wind or breathe on the gas pedal.
