lq9 piston and rods???? differences

Default lq9 piston and rods???? differences

i have been waiting a month now and the machine shop calls me up and trys to say i dont have a lq9 and i have a lq4 block then i tell them they are the same and he says he got press on pistons and mine uses slip fit to connect to the rods. whats the deal here? is the difference if it is a 04 or newer block? now he says he has to find slip fit pistons for the rods i have???

All LQ9s and will have flat top pistons and floating wrist pin rods. In 05, they started putting the LQ9 floating wrist pin rods in the LQ4s also, but with dished pistons.

Sounds like the guy ordered standard 6l pistons for a LQ4 when you did have a LQ9 or an 05 or newer motor.

i wonder if the guy even ordered flat top pistons? obviously he hasn't worked on these engines like he said he has...

automotive machine and supply over in ft worth. they acted like they do ls1's all the time then they said yesterday they dont do these 6.0's because everyone wants an aluminum 5.7

The machine shop I use in fort worth is Accurate Machine, the owner is a super nice guy and stands by his work!! I have been dealing with him for years and he builds all my father's buddies race motors... He built all three motors (I am the reason they kept blowing, not the Machinst) in my Mustang and he has built ~ 8 motors for my entire family...

I use Arlington Automotive Machine over by UTA.....People in my family and Myself have had great sucess with them. Hope you get things worked out bro....
