Would you describe the problem as a rattling sound in the steering column itself? How long does the install take?

Yes it's the rattling sound in the steering column...and you can replace one in about 30 minutes. Some people are faster at it because they do it so much. And this is the re-designed shaft hence the hew part #.

If you p[urchase one...I'll include GM detailed Install instructions.

Do you know if the shaft on the re-designed one is smaller in diameter than the old one?? I have the Thorley Tri-y's and I had to beat the primary tube in to clear the shaft, but I can still feel it hit sometimes. I think this might solve that problem also.

I believe it is the same size as the old one. Doesn't really "look" any different on the outside.

Yes the shaft is the siame diameter. Suprisingly. I didn't have to modify my Pacesetters to clear that. ODd that you had to with Doug's headers.

i remember when i worked at the dealership. we had a grand prix that kept coming in for the intermediate shaft rattle time after time and we found a cadillac intermediate shaft that fit perfectly. the caddy shaft had a rag joint like the older model trucks had at one time. never had to lube the intermediate shaft again on that one.
