Installing an LS2 into a '90 GMC...HELP?
#1
I have not been able to make my mind up on what would be the best engine combination for my 1990 GMC reg. cab SWB stepside custom street truck. The truck currently has the 5.7L TBI 350 V8 sitting between the frame rails and it will need a rebuild. However, I am looking to make around 400-450rwhp and I don't believe that rebuilding the stock motor will get me there. I want to stay fuel injected and not switch to carbureted so I have been thinking about installing an LS2/402, LQ9/408, or L92/413 but I do not know what all is needed for this conversion.
So what exactly is needed to perform this conversion?
Where is the best place to purchase the parts?
Has anyone done this before? Results? Suggestions?
Do you recommend performing the conversion or rebuilding the stock block?
Thanks in advance for any comments, help, and/or suggestions.

If I had the money, I'd go with that L92 setup. I think those L92 heads are the hot ticket to big power. The swap itself wasn't hard, but you may run into snags when it comes to wiring and fuel, but it all depends on your skill level. Check out LS1tech in the conversion section. Good luck man.
