Default 98R/T trans swap

98 R/T transplant needs new trans.. what is the model of this trans if anyone can I.D. it?

Im guessing its a 46re but im not too good on dodge trannys?

When you say transplant did it have a 5.9l? If so then I think it would be the A518 overdrive transmission.

no it was an original 3.9 and whatever. drivetrain eng/trans/drvshft/rearend out of a 2000 R/T, i know nothing about dodges. but trying to learn a little. brother needs some help, so i do what i can.

I just done some calling and im almost sure its the 46re if its out of a 2000 r/t

Yes that is a 46RE,the pan is similar in shape to the 727,the 44RE and 42RE have a more sqaure shape pan.All the Dakota R/T's got the 46RE,318 Daks got the 44RE.

They all run about the same price, IIRC. So, just do your research and see what you think would be the best for you.
