418 build update pics and broke a ring
Well I went over to mjhowards house and started building my motor finally. I learned alot of stuff from him and am glad its finally getting under way. I was filing the rings to the correct size and I went to file the 2nd compression ring and squeezed the ring on the ring filer and it just snapped So my buld hits yet another road block. This crap is getting really old really quick. Got the crank and 7 pistons in tonight Here are the pics for what it is worth
I didnt take too many pics cause I got pretty pissed after I broke the ring so.....
Here are some pics of the ring that broke it must have been bad from the factory better now then later I guess.
Ill get some more when it is more complete and during the install hopefully nothing else happens to slow down the process even more. I am so ready to drive my truck now. Its been down for THREE months, I miss it

That cluttered shop looks familiar.
top ring .020-.022
second ring .022-.024
third ring ~.015
I've broken some before spreading them but never compressing. Bad ring and it is xmas holiday. May be forever before he gets another ring.
4.030 bore 4.100 stroke. No clearancing, yet....

4.030 x 4.100 no clearancing found needed yet. Haven't checked to see if it will clear the cam though. It is supposed to clear but we will see. His is a street/moderate nitrous application.
