yea i was thinking of the marine intake swap and tune the stock 4.3 for now. just to see what it can actually do. more curiosity than anything. but later down the road i want to do a GEN III swap.
i dont think i can use my factory harness for a 5.3 or 6.0 swap. thats my main conern. should i use the harness that goes with the other motor? Im going to use a walbro 255 pump most likely. that way i dont starve out the system.
you use the harness AND computer from the donor motor. you take out the engine wiring and computer from your tuck. somethings you will need to wire from the truck harness to the new computer. or you can go the $800+ route and buy the painless wire harness and pcm. thats what we used on a 97 gmc full size. we took out the 4.3l and installed a ls1 383 stroker. last i checked the last tune i put on it fixed the speedo and tach so that all the gauges work.
but the marine intake sounds like a good idea too. i posted some vids of another build i did with a 4.3l in a extcab silverado. its turbo'd using syty manifolds and a mpt70 turbo. its a screamer too.
alright cool. yea im going to stick with the marine intake for now. plus my injectors are taking a crap anyways damn poppets. any idea on how much power i would gain from doing the intake swap? ill know the tune is everything but could I be safe to say 30hp more or something like that?
yea if i do the 5.3 or 6.0 swap ill pull the whole harness and pcm with it. i like to use as much as possible and save some money. all ive really got is time. money is the thing i dont have alot of.
