Default Im Cornfused...

ok, this past week, I have been messing around with ride hieght on my 79. It is a Big 10. I removed some leafs in the rear, and put on 2" drop coils. The rear is way to loosy goosy right now, planning to add back in the thicker leaf and remove another, and add a 2" drop shackle.

My question falls with the front end. Is the Big 10 not a "3/4 ton" coil spring? Sitting 1.5 - 2" higher than a non heavy half? So putting the 2" drop coils on, it only dropped 1.5-2"..... Whats the deal with that?

If my truck sits 1.5-2" higher in the front than a non heavy half, wouldn't a 2" drop coil put me down at least 2.5-3"?

The first picture is a before, and the second is current.
Is it possible that a Big 10 has a spindle that sat the truck up a little higher? What are your thoughts?

That's interesting, your truck after dropping looks like mine at stock.

I could see the spindle being a possibility since I know that one of the only ways to lift the front of the 2wd is by using bigger springs and spindles in the front -at least that's what's in the Fabtech kit. But I don't know for sure.

But on a different not... your trucks not looking bad at all. I like the rally wheels, but those aren't the stock truck wheels. They look like Vette or Camaro wheels.

Thats cause they are Vette or Camaro Wheels. They are aftermarket, have the right bolt patern for the truck. No one else around me runs them, helps the truck stand out.

They definitely win in my book. It's nice to see 'em mounted on a truck. I've wanted to run some for a long time. What size are you using? No problems with space or anything?

They are 15x8's 255-70-15 tires. No issues at all. Very pleased with this tire/wheel combo.

I don't think that the front springs are any diff. between the 2 models. I also have a big 10, and it has the same front springs (coil diameter and free length ) as my friends regular c10. The diffs are in the front rotors and spindle, being larger, and the rear has the 56" long 3/4 ton leaf packs. Otherwise, they are identical. Rmember, the only reason for the big 10 was to get around emissions crap, so they just slightly increased the stopping power (thicker rotors) and the rear spring capacity.
