Who makes a Stronger 1-Piece DS
Was wondering if anyone has found a company that makes a stronger 1-piece driveshaft that's 83" long or around that length?
I'm considering this change from a 2-piece DS if I can't get my vibrations to go away and decide to keep my drop on my truck.

When I busted the 72" driveshaft on my Avalanche I talked extensively with Denny's, another company that specializes in driveshafts (Inland Empire Driveline), as well as a local company that has been in the business for 30+ years making racing driveshafts for BMW's, etc.
The consensus was that 1-piece driveshafts like mine or longer were extremely difficult to make properly and make strong, and all of them said they could not design anything fundamentally better than the OEM shaft. They said steel would be too heavy, and if they made me an aluminum one, it would have the exact same characteristics as the stock driveshaft while costing 2-3 times more.
In the end I decided to get another OEM driveshaft and have it high-speed balanced. I also corrected my drive angles, which was key.
Have you taken your truck into a specialty shop that knows what they're doing as far as fixing driveline angles? If not, why not?

This is his truck, it's a 2007 GMC Sierra Classic 2wd CC 1500 w/ the 5'8" bed and the Heavy Duty Suspension (T-Bars). His 1- piece shaft is about (hard to measure alone) 83.5" end of yoke to end of yoke and about 87" end of yoke to tailshaft of tranny. Hope this helps. No vibes in his truck at all.

No vibes because it's not lowered. It probably wouldn't vibrate anyways because it's a 1-piece.
The question to if they have switched over to a 1-piece shaft lies in the Ext Cab trucks mainly. The CC trucks have been coming with the 1-piece shafts.
I believe the 06' & up VHO ECSB trucks now all have 1-piece shafts.
Can anyone verify this?

To measure a DS length, you measure from center of u-joint to center of u-joint.
I think the 83.5" aluminum DS will fit right in my truck.
I have no idea about the yoke at the differential though.
Anyone know if I could swap over to a 1-piece aluminum shaft without to many issues?
Will the 1-piece shaft handle high hp numbers?

If i could change mine also - this info would be a great help - after lowering - it has a low speed shudder on take off - the OEM shaft appears to me to be rather smallish - also there is a TSB regarding replacing the driveshaft and rear pinion bearing and seal.
