Ran a Porsche from a stop sign
Left base today and there was a (2004-2006)Porsche Boxer convertible in front of me. He had his GF/Wife with him. Just happened to get to a stop sign and pulled up next to him rolled down my window and said "hey do you want to run?" he replied with "its just a boxer" I said "its just a 4.8" he didn't know what that meant but his GF started counting down from 5. I looked over and saw him set launch control or maybe sport mode but it didn't help. As soon as she said go I dumped the clutch at about 2400rpm in 2wd. Unfortunantly for both of us there was a lot of sand/gravel at the stop sign because they spread sand in winter up here rather then salt so it stays around all year. I roasted threw 1st slammed second hoping to catch still didn't so I peddled it and straightened her up. I wasn't watching him but he hadn't passed me and once I hit about 80 I had to let off due to traffic he rolled passed and we both gave a thumbs up.
My passenger said it looked like the Porsche couldn't catch traction ether and his GF/wife was smacking the dash in an attempt to make it go faster.
Under better circumstances he probably would have beat me.
But it tells me I need new rear tires and to practice my 4H launches.
I also need to get better at finding third I always seem to miss it or it locks me out of it for a second or something but I need to practice that.
All in all it was all in good fun and neither one of us was a jack*** or a sore loser.
