To set up I'm coming back from playing golf down a 55 mph 4 lane Hwy. I look in my rear view mirror and see a Raptor weaving through traffic to catch up to me. As he clears the last car I pick up my pace a-little. I'm doing 65 by the time he gets to my back bumper and then I hammer down and he stay pretty much right where he was, just behind me.

As we are slowing with him still behind me. A light in front of us turns RED. I get to the line first and already have my window down to talk.

To my surprise the guy pulls up beside me hanging out of the window laughing saying

"I don't thing you want to RACE"

Why did he say that you ask!!!

Because he was a COP in full uniform. I immediately tell him he wasn't doing the speed limit either and he laughs. He was a young guy about my age.

Well the light turns green and he say's you ready and takes off chirping the tires. I was not really ready so I was a split sec behind him and now I'm at his rear tire.

I "thought" with headers and a custom tune there is NO way a raptor would out run me. We have similar size mud tires and I'm running 22X10 rims he has stock 18" rims.

Just went I thought I would reel him back in. Nope he started pulling on me just enough to get over in front of me. He threw his hand up good race and I did the same.


I just can't believe he pulled on me up top. I guess his 4.10 gear made the difference.

Surprised as well he pulled you up top, the raptors are an amazing truck but not exactly fast lol must have had some work done. Great story and a cool cop!!

Me too I love the idea of a Raptor and the main reason I didn't buy one is I thought it would be much slower than my denali. Man I was wrong.

Throw a blower on it and he will be old news! Two of my friends have 6.2 raptors...unless they are offroading (half the reason i want one very badly), they are turds! :-)

I just can't believe he pulled on me. It kinda makes me wonder if my 6.2 with headers and a tune is down on power. I mean I do have 150k miles.

Wheels for sure will slow you down! RAPTORS arent that fast but at least they are geared for their stock 35s...my buddy with a stock raptor on just a size up tire (37s) cant even break them loose on a brake torque....
