Default another lighting kill

Got to race a stock 02 lightning last night. We raced from a dig then i paced him from a roll while he was racing someone else.

He got me by about a fender from the hit on a dig. I reeled him up at the top of first. And had about 3 lengths on him by 105. Neither of us spun and it was a pretty fair race. I figure a roll would have been a similar turnout.

Im surprised my truck ran as well as it did. I have a tune, lts, 222/230 cam, gears, and locker. Everything else is stock. Stock stall, clutch fan, paper filter, etc.

Anyone know about how well these run stock?

What engine? Really need a looser torque converter with that cam. What gear ratio are you running?

5.3. And i will definitely agree it needs a converter. Just too broke to afford one right now. Im running 4.11s with a true trac.

I really figured he would run me down, but never did

Im kind of up in the air on getting a stall with this transmission. Its bone stock with 150k miles and they havent been easy miles.

I plan on spraying this motor. Does anyone thing an 80 swap would be overkill with a nitrous 5.3.

Tranmission overkill for an engine? Uh...nah. 80E will be one of the best things you've ever done. Guaranteed.

I figure ill wait for an 80 swap before i put a converter on. This transmission is bound to go soon. It doesnt even have a servo in it lol. Then ill add the spray.

80E, converter, 200 shot. Race the same guy and let him see what's up after that.
