Ok so my roommate has a 05 access cab 4x4 4.0 6speed tacoma.
his mods
-headers with 1 cat on each side and 10 seires muffler
-Home made CAI
-MAF calibrator
-4.56s on 35s


I have a 05 RCSB 4.8 5 speed 1500
my mods
-long tubes no cats to 10 series
-K&N intake
-fresh tune up (NGK plugs MSD wires)
-BBP 91 tune
-4.10s on 33s


We have not raced yet but just from riding in his truck it feels so much faster then mine. It pisses me off because on paper I only weigh 450 pounds more then him. I estimate around 300hp while hes only at about 245 we both have LSDs.

Anyone know why Tacomas feel so dang fast? Or why mine feels like a turd compared to his?

They make good low end torque, but you should be able to beat him. I used to beat my buddies in my ext cab when it had the 4.8 in it.

can anyone explain why GM made the 4.8? it costs as much to make a 4.8 as a 5.3...but it's weaker and gets less mileage. i see no point other than it saves on the sticker....but costs GM the same to make??? no wonder the GOV had to bail them out.
