I worked for my Dad since I was 10. He never really paid me and I never really complained. Shortly after I turned 16, I came home from high school and found a 1991 GMC Sonoma in the drive.
After several years, I had it looking like this. No bondo, no fiberglass.
There wasn't much of anything on the truck that wasn't customized other then the suspension. I never got around to lowering it, but I did install some edelbrock IAS shocks.

TOWN CRIER

1965 Impala convertible 283/powerglide/2.73 power drum brakes (lock up with the slightest touch, taught me how to drive QUICK!!). Got it from a neighbor's father, it had been in a barn in Indiana for a while, had a trailer hitch and had obviously lived a hard life. Learned a LOT from it (like how to pick a project car, lol) and it's still sitting at my dad's house, rotting... I'll get to it again eventually, too many damn projects
I picked it up when I was 14, replaced the floor pans, redid the brakes, and did some half assed body work in high school. Eventually rebuilt the trans my senoir year and a couple of years ago went through the 283 and put it back up to snuff with the original Rochester monojet, points, and PCV intake. Mostly original fun cruiser...
Here it is when I picked it up, fresh from the barn, I really think the guy I got it from put his boat in the water with it....
Replacing the floors, completely rotted out. It's how I learned to weld...
The trans on a bench, my first trans tear down and rebuild, certainly not my last (I eventually did heavy line work at a GM dealer for several years).
Here is the most recent pics I have of the car, sadly I haven't touched it in two years due to shitty work schedules and other lame excuses.

My first truck was a 1987 Suburban 3/4ton 2wd with a TBI 454... did a couple bolt on's. But my first 'Project' was when I inherited my grandfathers 1969 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd longbed. It had a very tired 396ci that I drove throughout high school. In college I built & swapped a 454ci to replace the 396ci. It had a tunnel ram intake and dual edelbrock 500's. I started to lower the '69, but with my limited funds I only got around to lowering front coils and the truck had the ugliest rake to it.
