Default TXsilverado 2.0 Build Thread

but not a silverado this will be a long build and probably not updated very often due to the time it will take me trying to jew it together. i dont plan on going too crazy with the budget on this thing (without half assing it). I try to find as many used parts as i can. i do have alot of left over parts from past engines so it should help. i will try to keep a running tally of money spent for anyone that may want to do this in the future.

i picked this blown motor 1996 s10 pickup for $900. automatic trans, great body, good paint, good interrior. eventually i plan to paint it hotrod black (satin black). hopefully by that point i can find a cheap stepside bed for it along with a 4-6" cowl hood to fit my intake.

i'm going to pick this up after work today. the donor motor came from a 2007 CTS-V and has around 60,000 miles on it. i splurged on this part and put a major ding in the budget of my budget hotrod. but i always wanted to play with a LS2 so i got me one. $2,200 but this motor is CLEAN inside and out.

TRUCK:900
LS2: 2,200
CAM: 220
VIC JR/CARB: 450
oil pan kit: 132
ignition and air cleaner: 280
headers: 739.46
motor/trans mounts:468
FAST TCU: 160
4l60e: 1,000 (NEEDS REBUILD)
MISC: 98.61

Better get your name changed to TXs10 lol. That's gonna be a lot of fun with an LS2.

i wanted to try F/I but gave up on that idea. there's no room under the hood and nitrous is just too easy! besides i think the LS2 sits close to 11.0:1 compression stock. i decided to try something new and go with a carb setup on this motor. most likely a super vic and msd ignition. 4l80e transmission with probably a -4500+ converter on a trans brake and a cam/spring package. right now i'm leaning towards the trex 242/248 .608/.612 110lsa but i dont know if it will clear the LS2 pistons. i dont plan to pull these heads off so flycutting the pistons is out of the quesiton. my mind will probably change a dozen times before the purchase.

Was hoping for F/I but i'm sure it will be a nice build. Do me a favor? take lots of pictures and keep a best guess on what you spend?
