Thats what I was thinking gonna play with it today some see what happens. I'm surprised I never heard it or anything. Im glad I havent done any 4H launches. I'm sure under load it probably increases contact which could be bad.

It’s been awhile since I posted here and nothing exciting has been done to the truck. Installed a Trick performance catch can about 200 miles ago. It is very nice and extremely easy to set up. Takes longer to pop the hood and get the 10mm ratchet than it does to put everything together. Also working on some interior mods that should be finished up soon. More pics coming soon!

So I finally did some good stuff to the truck. I had the stock NV3500 5 speed manual trans yanked out and a NV4500 swapped in. I wish I could say that I did the swap myself but between moving 3 times in 8 months new job full time school and a lack of a welder I had a local 4x4 and performance shoo handle it. (Smiths off road and performance out of Carrollton TX) had I know everything would have bolt in like stock I would have done it myself. The cross member matched up the clutch and flywheel went in like new the transfer case bolts right up all the drive shafts fit and it uses the NV3500 shifter so it looks 100% stock in the cab. The only thing they had to do was and new reverse switch. It took the shop less than 2 days to complete the swap.
Once the NV3500 was out I got to see how bad the clutch and fly wheel were.
Also did some minor stiff like a projector retro fit into OEM housing some LED light upgrades up front. Also a 2006 grill and HD hood which still needs painting. Under the hood I rerouted heater core hoses and wrapped stuff in prep for turbo. Also installed a beautiful Atomic coolant overflow tank.
In the cab I used multiple products from Sound deader showdown to make the cab much quieter and comfortable to drive as well as a overhead console install.
Here's a bunch of random pics.

The new trans shifts amazing I had really been leaning towards a ZF6 swap but after hearing a few members say that the ratios of the NV4500 are better and the ZF6 is over kill I called Midwest trans to get their opinion. Their staff was extremely helpful and agreed the NV4500 would be a much better fit not only because of the ratios but the cost is nearly half and parts are widely available for the NV4500 where as the ZF6 is no longer manufactured.
Speaking of gear ratios Here is the ratios for the NV4500, NV3500 and 4L60e
NV4500 NV3500 4l60E
1st-5.61 4.02 3.60
2nd-3.04 3.21 1.62
3rd-1.67 1.49 1.00
4th-1.00 1.00 .70
5th-0.75 .73 N/A
Rev-5.61 3.55 2.29
As you can see first gear is pretty much pointless in normal driving I find that starting in second is easier and smoother in most normal driving situations. But if you really want to get moving nailing first from a stop does the trick but you better be ready to slam second within an instant. The shifting itself is very nice I would say it might not be as smooth as a brand new NV3500 but since mine was on its last leg the NV4500 is much better I can finally get into 3rd after a hard 1-2 shift. The trans makes nearly no noise whatsoever and is all around just a joy to drive. first is so low you can start from a mild hill without giving it gas get out and walk beside the truck while it idles along.
Overall couldn't be Happier.
Also just ordered Fast coolers finned aluminum trans coolers that add 2 quarts of oil capacity so I can have a total of 8 Quarts in the NV4500 I should never ever have to worry about over heating it.

Do it!!
I'm excited for these coolers and 8 quarts of fluid to show up this week. I've put just over 300 miles on it now and I'm going to install these and do a fluid change as soon as they arrive.
