ahhhh thats definitely not a fun situation, i had that same issue on my old silverado. had a 00 ecsb that i had put a rollpan on and removed the rotted bumper and hitch receiver that it came with. well i reinstalled it into the frame in order to pull a pop up camper one year and realized after we got back from the trip that i almost caused some serious damage. it didnt have the mounts on the bumper which made a huge difference.. (idiot facepalm) and the large thick washers i used to put it into the frame, ended up sucking into the holes and ALMOST pulled out of the frame. it also started to contort the frame a bit towards the ends... needless to say i did NOT use it for hauling anymore lol.

When i realized that hitch wasnt bolted on completly it was already hanging down way down and used a forklift to pull it up again to put the bolts in. Not a good situation specialy if it would happen on a long trip somewhere!

yeah definitely not good for a trip. we were going probably 1.5-2hrs away for a country concert weekend so it wasnt too bad but still.. if it came apart it wouldve been catastrophic
