SOOOOOO I bought 2 things that at the start of the project I would never ever buy, a muffler and an air filter.... I mean the muffler isn't much of a muffler but close enough right?

Its an aero turbine at5050. The diesel guys seem to like them. I ordered it online and quickly looked at the dimensions and was like yea yea 5" inlet something like an 8" overall diameter. Its got a weird venturi design inside of it that is supposed to suck the exhaust out theoretically. I just wanted a muffler that did a little something but not a lot. And then i got it and just about pooped myself. Its XL.

The air filter is just a basic vibrant that is pretty small due to space. If it is a big restriction ill just get a velocity stack.

I also ventured back into the HP tuners world.... Man what a learning curve again.

I have a 3 bar map, so I wanted and know that the hardware I have can support a 3 bar speed density tune.... Turns out you need the right OS (...156) to support that code modification (came standard on lots of 2002 vehicles which I don't have). I already licensed the current OS and don't really have a desire to use 2 more credits to get another bar that I won't use for awhile so I'm stuck with 2 bar for the time being. Took me awhile to figure out the OS requirement, info on why an option won't show up is mighty hard to find!

I also sat down with a 5.7L LS1 Camaro manual tune and converted my truck tune over to manual trans setup. The changes aren't dramatic, but there is a bunch of them. The HPtuners tune repository is a pretty sweet info source if you haven't checked it out previously.

The weather is starting to get nicer and my foot is starting to get heavier

Well it lives. running mega rich and the wet roads where being a party pooper as far as boost goes. 3-4psi Timing for tuning. I don't think that sound will ever get old. Ever.

Shitty snapchat video:

It may not be much, but its parking lot built and I'm pretty dam proud of it. Just need to beat up on a few ricers and ill be even happier!

Congrats dude. That's awesome to see it running around. Let's see some smoky burnouts.

sweet build, and props for doing it in the work space you had. curious to see that numbers after it's tuned.

Thanks!

I blew a charge pipe boot off that I forgot to do up shortly after that video. Had my dad on speaker phone and banged the limiter, that did it in. Silly rubber motor mounts. There is finally some nice weather in the forecast so Ima try to start leaning the sauce into it

I also have to find little Mexico around here...

Finally a cool update

Spent the day at the dyno. Kind of a screw around but whatever. Ended up having to put a cooler plug with a much tighter gap to get it to no miss fire. My plug wires also took a beating (having a little mid range mis fire) so time for some new, longer wires. Also need an intercooler surge tank to make the pump stay happy.

ANYWAYS.

Tuner ended up stoping at 5400RPM because the boost crept to somewhere around 18psi . At that point the 2bar tune was more than maxed out and a degree or 2 of knock came into the picture so that was it. I was rather impressed with the torque curve. Boost comes on at 2500, and it loves it life at 3500.

Final pull:

5400RPM
16-18psi, should probably pull the log and see.
4th gear
~550 ft-lbs
~570hp
Ended up at 8 degrees of timing

Next things on the list:

Don't something to keep the boost in line. Probably add another waste gate. haven't decided if ill do that or just mix in some e85.
Intercooler surge tank
New plug wires.

I really wanted to see 600, but it easily has that in it with out the high boost levels.

You can't really have to much gate. Looking good man. Did you find little Mexico yet?

I knew it was going to creep, I just didn't think it would ever get that bad. The trick kit uses a similar sized gate so I figured it would be in the ball park, but its not even close hahah. I really don't want to spend $350 on another gate but it'll probably happen.

Little mexico has been found.

It chirps tires in parking lots and lays 2 black strips when you mash on the skinny pedal, everything in between is just a different shade of grey.

It'd say it really depends on what type of town you live in and what you want to do with your truck.
