You're absolutely right; I thought maybe the H2 or the 2wd Silverado SS may have had it, but both were 4L65Es. The SSS 2wd got the 14-bolt so I thought maybe they bumped the trans to HD-spec as well, but apparently not. Same with the H2; being based on a 3/4-ton platform, I thought maybe it would get the 3/4-ton trans, but no dice.

What about swapping the truck from 4wd to 2wd? I'm sure that would make a engine/transmission swap easier

The only thing I have set in stone is swapping to a 6.0

Making the truck 2wd would be much less stress on a drivetrain I would think.

I'm just looking for some ideas. I plan to go by my local junk yard tomorrow and see what kind of engine's they have.

It's cooling off so I'm about the get started on this project.

I'm going to keep the truck 4x4 and run the 4l60 as long as I can.

I've always had supercharged vehicles and I would like to run a supercharger or turbo with this swap. Does anyone know if I can do either of the two and still run the A/C bracket on the truck?

ls style converter is longer (both converters layed down the ls style is taller) ran into this trying to swap the stall converter from my 97 tahoe into my 5.3 truck). you may have to modify the flywheel and get spacer but its not a big issue. and yes your trans can definately be beefed up to handle some bigger power, but the heavy weight of truck is wayy rougher on them than really seems cost effective, swap for a 4L80e, change the input for transfer case, get some driveshaft made, and itd be bulletproof
