Alright, so as you all remember I left off with the torque converter sitting in the truck and the engine ready to go in, so tonight I had a hand and that is how it started:
So, we got the hood propped up and the truck moved into position and the engine on the chain hoist, moved the truck back under the hoist and lowered it in.
Had to tip the engine back and do a lot of wiggling, but finally got it all lined up and the dowels engaged. From there, there was a lot of this:
And a lot of this because of those dang bellhousing bolts:
But the pair of us finally got it sat in and engine mounts bolted up, AC compressor bolted up, bellhousing bolted up, oil cooler lines bolted up, and most of the bottom end electrical items connected. Left her like this for the night:
So, just a lot of accessories need to be connected, the blower put back on, the torque converter bolts need put back in, and the starter, exhaust, etc. But that is pretty easy stuff now that I can do all by myself. So, barring any real issues, she should be good to go sometime this weekend.
Well, the weekend without the kid didn't turn out as productive as I had hoped. My wife had planned a surprise 30th for me with college friends which pretty much consumed my weekend, so I only ended up getting a little over an hour or so per night to work after the kid goes to bed.
In the past couple days I managed to get the converter bolted to the flywheel, the starter bolted back up, all the misc. cooler lines/covers/wiring around the bottom of the oil pan connected, the headers back on and connected to the exhaust, the AC belt on, the lower intake manifold on, the fuel system all reconnected, and the water pump re-installed. The parts bin is starting to get thin at this point. Just another few hours and it'll be back together.
The truck can wait for stuff like that... whether you finish it this week or next you'll never remember the difference. But the party... I hope it was a good one.

100% agree and thanks! I got it all but wrapped up tonight with it just needing fluids, a coolant temp sensor (mine started to break as I was torquing it to 15 ft lb), plugs and wires. I am gonna finish up, leave the plugs out, and pull the fuel system fuses to prime the oil system tomorrow and then let it rip. Here is a pic:
Keep in mind I need to order the correct belt length and it's only the old 6 rib on there now. K081124HD for those keeping track.
