Talking 1991 Chevy S-10 build

so far:

4.8 engine
stock cam, lifters, pushrods, rockers, and PAC 1218 .600 beehive springs
new rings, rod and main bearings.
stock heads
Holley mid-rise single plane intake (ordered)
Edelbrock 600 CFM carb (vacuum secondaries)
If I can get them to fit, stock manifolds from a trailblazer SS and I think a Camaro. If they don't fit, I will be ordering some 1 3/4 mid length headers.

TH400 Hughes Performance transmission NEW
Still has factory valve body, but I plan to install an RMVB/brake valve body when I can afford one. Since it is new, I am hoping I can just swap the valve bodies and the vacuum servo for the solenoid and maybe the case drilling can be done without having to completely disassemble the transmission.
3500 nitrous converter (not bought yet)
B&M Quicksilver shifter (not bought yet)

Rear end will be an 8.8 with 31 spline axles, spool, and c-clip eliminators with drum brakes. Currently has 4.56 gears installed, but I may need to swap in some 3.73's since I plan to drive it on the street.
Ladder bar kit to be installed with QA-1 single adjustable coil-overs
I am hoping for 15x10 street driven wheels and 15x12 drag racing wheels and slicks.

Will have drilled and slotted front rotors and stock Mustang rear drums. I plan to install a LINELOK for burnouts.

A lot of this list is on the "not bought yet" side, but I am slowly making progress. I know that this time around I will NOT be buying frame wrap headers!! Last time I was ready to burn the truck to the ground over those stupid things!!

So far I have the 4.8 back together with eBay head studs, 862 heads, stock 4.8 pistons rods and crank, stock 4.8 camshaft, and Holley black crinkle valve covers that have built in coil stands. I am waiting for the cathedral port intake to come in because DUMMY ME bought the wrong intake (LS3 square port). Once that gets in, I plan to install that, the carb, and a 1" spacer with a nitrous plate. I will then be able to test fire the engine (on the engine stand) since I already have the 6010 6LS box in, hooked up, and programmed.

My first goal is to just get it to fire off and idle for about 20-30 seconds to warm the block a little bit. Over a few days I will try to get 10-15 minutes of idle time in to get the oil hot and circulating good. I have an oil pressure gauge installed just above the filter on the pan port. After I got it assembled and remembered that I had forgot the cam retainer plate, I had 50-52 PSI of oil pressure while cranking it over. I did get oil pressure to ALL rockers once I remembered to install that plate... DUH!! Before I put the plate in, I was only getting 20-24 psi of oil pressure. Which meant I was not dry cranking it.. YAY!

I may install a cam with some other parts later on. Or I may just build a stroker 6.0 and swap it in. All depends on how finances and my health are going...

I have a boatload of pictures, but a few are below.

Got the bed off the truck today. Have the final part ordered for the ladder bar kit. Should be here by this weekend. Summit sent out the cathedral intake for my engine today. I have to go and pick up a pair of wheels for the 8.8 rear end's 4 lug axles so I can move it around after the 8.8 is put in. I plan to get 31 spline diff and axles for it along with c clip eliminators and maybe disc brakes.. Haven't decided on that yet. May just stick with the drums for a little while. Budget is shot to crap right now. But I am trying to work with what I have for the time being. I plan to remove the drivers fender before it gets taken for the rear end/ladder bar installation.

Yeah. It has all gone to the dogs!!

I have been sidetracked by putting an SBC into it until I can gather up enough money to get the remainder of stuff I need for the 6.0. I did have a 4.8 in it but dummy me did not put new cam bearings in the block, and the LS6 cam ate the bearings and gave me a monstrous 7 psi of oil pressure at idle.

I have since cold that motor and am working with a GEN IV 6.0 with a .575/.575 cam on a 109 lsa, but that has taken a back burner until my budget decides to clear up some. Right now I am so far in the hole financially, the Chinese people see me walk by and start yelling "FREE WEELEEEEEEEEEE"
