1990 c1500 Build
after selling my old 96 in my sig i went into gear head depression and started building my daily driver ss. that got way to extreme and i wasn't happy with the weight size and torsion bar set up. at that time it became clear i need another 88-98 c1500. these trucks are by far my fav of all times. not only was it my first means of transportation but i ended up owning roughly 7 of them over the years. this thread will be of the build that i can look at the progress and maybe people can get some ideas or give me some.
the goal for this truck is street truck only. i understand not everyone condones this but to each their own. the main set up will be a ls nitrous motor with a th350. motor back 18 inches. yes 18. stock suspension with flip kit and assassin bars. manual rack and pinion, motor plates, full interior, with a goal of under 3400lbs. I've looked and researched to no end and some thing ill be doing to this will be a first, but ill tackle them as they come.
this is when i bought it in miami off my old neighbor from back in the day. its a rolling chassis shell. and the ole ladys truck pulled it all 300 miles no problem.
next to my buddys 350ss were gonna return to showroom like condition soon. all I've done in this pic is switch to factory staggered wheels from my 88 silverado.
cut up installing a flip kit and c notch. getting it ready for the fuel cell to mount where spare was and shock relocator bar.
thinking long and hard before i cut a giantgantic hole in my firewall lol
the ole lady would not let me take the front end apart. my buddy and i sat back and drank beer and assisted where needed while she brought it down to cab only lol.
almost stripped down
things just got real.
with leaving stock dash in i moved it back 17.5 inches so far. I'm going to massage some areas more and go from there. but truck will have stock dash and such in it. i hope it hooks lol
ill post some pics when i can. i have full fuel system, lines fittings 20 gallon cell and all. cooling system and full interior with new dash in box and custom gauge cluster. I'm working on welding up the filler panels for the firewall and getting the manual rack welded in and chromoly column ran into the cab. the driver side kirkey will be all the way against the back of the cab so my weight is far back as possible. my body does paint and body work and is going to prep it and spray the back of the cab and door jambs. then once all together ill spray entire truck. thanks for reading and standby
