Default Why does everyone here hate the zex kit?

I was seriously considering this kit to tide me over until I'm done with my 6.0L turbo build.

ZEX 82231 ZEX Silverado Nitrous System
ZEX 82231 ZEX Silverado Nitrous System : Amazon.com : Automotive

I jump on here to read up and nobody cares for it. Nobody gives any reason other than they just don't like it.

I've got a 5.3L with a 3k stall, 80E, AWD. I think a 150 shot would be fun until I have time to finish my LQ4 build.

Why the ZEX hate? Any alternatives that aren't 1000.00's of dollars? I like the Silverado simplicity of that kit. I'm not racing.

You get what you pay for.. Go buy one and you'll soon understand why.. They have the worst solenoids..

Can you recommend me a comparable kit? I like the idea of how the zex kit functions. Flip the switch and at wot it engages.

I can't seem to find a competitor that offers the same simplicity near the same price point.

This seems comparable.

Brand X Universal EFI Single Nozzle System - GM Systems - EFI Wet Nitrous Systems

It looks like it has a wot switch, but not the same style as the zex kit.

Then there's this kit:

PROTON PLUS NITROUS SYSTEM W/ 10LB BOTTLE

Also comparable to the zex kit.

That's not how the kit on my Uncles Nova worked. It had a button on the shifter ****. You armed it, floored it, and pushed the button.

some people prefer a push button. i don't. in a time of panic, he may lift the throttle and forget the button. most kits that you will purchase come with a WOT switch.

Granted, this was quite awhile ago.

After reading about entry nitrous setups, I think I have it narrowed down to one of the 2 above.

Brand X LSX EFI Single Nozzle System (60psi) (50-100-150 HP)

PROTON PLUS NITROUS SYSTEM W/ 10LB BOTTLE

i had a zex kit for years and it worked great as long as i didnt overfilled the bottle and didnt heat the bottle to much, the solenoids arnt very good, oh and my kit was 125 max, i used 150 all the time and it would work great but i would go nx or nitrous outlet the next time for sure
