Target AFR with Nitrous

Target AFR with Nitrous
I plan to fill my bottle this weekend and start tuning the nitrous. I have NGK racing plugs, one and two steps colder. I also have a wideband and nitrous bottle pressure gauge inside the cab of my truck, but no fuel pressure gauge. What is the target afr for a 50, 75, and 100 shot? If it makes a difference I have the NX proton plus system. I'm at 6000 ft above sea level so I'm not sure if that needs to be factored in. My engine is mildly modified with bolt ons, and the stock pistons only have an 1/8" ring land. Any help would be appreciated.

Depends on how far tuning wise you want to take it. Low 12s will get you in the ball park. But if you want to get it even better learn how to read your plugs.. Get on yellowbullet.com and do a lot of reading in the nitrous section on how to read your plugs.
We never look at the wideband when tuning the nitrous on my truck. We adjust the fuel pressure to where we has a slight gray ring around the base of the porcelain. What ever the afr is, is just the final result of what the motor needs of a properly tuned nitrous setup. Your final result may be 12.1 or it might be 13.1, it all depends as to what your motor needs..

Yep and always remember that "the richer the safer" theory is the complete opposite.. Not only do you lose a lot of power but it beats the hell out if the rings and the high hp shots will lift the ring lands running too rich .. It's hard to hurt a motor running lean

I always shot for 12:1 on the wideband, to get in the ball park. Then read plugs to get it dialed right in. I pulled fuel from the rail, so I tuned with the jets instead of fuel pressure. If it was lean, I'd add fuel. If it was rich I'd add nitrous. Once I got the mixture happy, I'd bring out the laptop and start playing with timing. Important to try and keep a constant bottle pressure to, I like 950.
Also, close up your plug gap. I ran .030 on br7's

I too will be pulling from the fuel rail so I will have to tune it with jets and hopefully I have enough jets to get it right, if not I'll have to buy more. I picked up some ngk racing plugs, one step colder and two steps colder. Unfortunately these Dodge PCM's are pretty hard to crack plus I don't have the experience so I'm going to leave that in the hands of my SCT tuner. As far as bottle pressure NX said their systems are tuned around 1050 bottle pressure, so I'll give that a shot.
