Default New (to me) Yukon Denali

Just picked up this Yukon this week.

Rides really nicely. Looking to hopefully add some power soon.

Thought I would introduce myself and start reading up!

It might.

Check the RPO codes in the glove box. If G80 is present, then yes it did. GT4/GT5/GU4/GU5/GU6 should be the gear ratio numbers. Likely is 3.42 or 3.73's in a truck like that.

It's a 2003. High miles (250xxx) but really well maintained. New transmission, a BUNCH of motor maintenance, dual transmission coolers, all fluids done etc. New leather, new suspension etc. Going to be a daily/weekend toy hauler for me.

I am hoping to get a little more off the line punch. What do people usually do? Gears? Converter?

Wow! Looks like a you got a good buy there.

As for more off the line, gears will get you there, but I wouldn't blow my money there yet. I would look into the simple upgrades first, nice CAI, decent long tubes with full exhaust, good dyno tune. Those things alone will really help the truck get moving. If you just throw gears in there then you will be quite wound up while highway driving and spinning parts at a much faster rate then normal, and this will speed up wear/tear. Gears will also consume more fuel faster
