New guy from Colorado, need opinions on 496 swap
Hey guys I have a regular cab short bed 02 1500 with the 4.8. I was thinking about a 6.0 swap but everyone seems to be doing 6.0 swaps so I was thinking about buying an 02 496 and doing heads, cam, intake, intake manifold, e85, and nitrous. Then swapping to a 4l80, and a tub. Don't plan to drive it unless im roll racing or drag racing. Any input would be greatly appreciated

I have a gauge for that

Yea it would be different, but there is a reason its not very popular. Lot of cubes but the heads suck pretty hard. Great towing motor, not so much for racing. There is also a relatively small aftermarket and I think Raylar is one of the only companies to make parts for it.

496 heads suck but these guys are the ultimate in 8.1 performance! they offer heads and intakes, camshafts and performance packages. check out the link.

Sure... Have to admit they have the market cornered. No one particularly cares to hop up to an 8.1. It's like throwing a 409 in something. They sure are cool but not many after market parts for them exist.
